ABOUT Peter Bruhn, MA, LPC (MN Lic # 02315)
I view our work together as a collaboration. I believe that together we can get you moving forward in ways that work for you, towards the life you are wanting to see for yourself.

In this collaborative work, I use several evidence-based “tools." For example, a main “go-to” is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is based on the idea that we tend to feel the way we think. So when we take a close look at what we tell ourselves, we might see that we add to our suffering by catastrophizing, or filtering out positives and focusing only on negatives. I also draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which focuses on identifying what principles we want to live by, which can then become a compass that guides us through life regardless of what comes our way. A third main component in my work is the practice of Mindfulness, which helps us live more harmoniously with what “is.”
I believe in these tools because I use them myself, and they have made a world of difference on my own life journey.
After 10 years as a stay-at-home dad, I decided to go back to school to obtain a counseling degree, earning an MA from the University of Minnesota. I believe my combination of personal, academic, and professional experience is a perfect blend that more than adequately equips me to do something I love - helping people along on their life journey.
I believe the ultimate goal for any individual is to live authentically, aligned with one's principles and values. This takes courage, and I am honored to assist in this process.
